Definition of resin materials
Resin material is a kind of high chemical molecular material extracted from plants for making various substances. It has the characteristics of structural stability, high temperature resistance and diversity of forms. At room temperature, the resin material is solid, medium solid, false solid, but sometimes it is also a liquid organic substance. The resin material has a softening or melting temperature range, has a flow tendency under the action of external forces, and the rupture is often shell-like. Broadly, it refers to polymers or prepolymers used as plastic substrates. Generally insoluble in water, soluble in organic solvents.
Classification of resin materials
Resin according to the source can be divided into natural resin and synthetic resin two kinds. There is only one kind of natural resin itself, but with the development of chemical industry, a lot of synthetic polymers are produced, and some of the chemical properties and physical properties of the polymers will be very similar to natural resins, so these polymers will be called synthetic resins.
According to the different characteristics of its processing behavior, there are thermoplastic resins and thermosetting resins
Natural resin refers to the amorphous organic substances obtained from animal and plant secretions in nature, such as rosin, amber and so on.
Synthetic resin is a kind of high polymer synthesized by artificial. The representative varieties are polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polystyrene (PS) and ABS resin five categories of synthetic resins.
According to the different characteristics of its processing behavior, it can be divided into thermoplastic resin and thermosetting resin.
Thermoplastic resin is a kind of hot melt cold setting resin, such as unsaturated polyester/vinyl ester/epoxy/phenolic/bismaleimide (BMI)/polyimide resin.
Thermosetting resin is a resin whose raw material will undergo a chemical reaction after being heated and will no longer melt after curing, such as polypropylene (PP)/polycarbonate (PC)/NYLON (NYLON)/polyether ether ketone (PEEK)/polyether sulfone (PES) and so on.
The application of resin materials
Resin mainly includes general purpose resin, advanced coating resin, artificial marble resin, crystal crafts resin, SMC, DMC resin, winding resin, rot resistant resin, flexible resin, color paste resin, food grade resin and other products, widely used in our light industry and heavy industry, our daily life is also often time, such as plastic, resin glasses, Paint and so on.
The main application areas of resin matrix composites are:
① Aerospace field. Because the composite material has good thermal stability, high specific strength and high specific stiffness, it can be used to manufacture aircraft wings and front fuselage, satellite antennas and their supporting structures, solar cell wings and shells, shells of large launch vehicles, engine shells, and space shuttle structural parts.
② Automobile industry. Because the composite material has special vibration damping characteristics, can reduce vibration and noise, good fatigue resistance, easy repair after damage, easy to form the whole, so it can be used to manufacture automobile body, stress components, transmission shaft, engine frame and its internal components.
③ Chemical, textile and machinery manufacturing fields. Good corrosion resistance of carbon fiber and resin matrix composite material, can be used in the manufacture of chemical equipment, textile machines, paper machines, copiers, high-speed machine tools, precision instruments and so on.
(4) Medical field. Carbon fiber composites have excellent mechanical properties and non-absorption of X-rays, which can be used in the manufacture of medical X-ray machines and orthopedic supports. Carbon fiber composites also have biohistocompatibility and blood compatibility, good stability in biological environments, and are also used as biomedical materials.
In addition, resin matrix composites are also used in the manufacture of sports devices and as building materials.
